Head of Legal

The Head of Legal reports to the Vice President, Finance USA and will lead our legal team as we experience continuous growth in the U.S. The successful candidate will provide effective guidance to mitigate risk exposure, while considering both financial and reputational business impacts.


What you’ll do to be sixt-cessful:

  • Provide expert and strategic legal advice to senior management on all legal based matters across the business
  • Anticipate legal issues or potential risks to the business, estimate risks and make appropriate strategic recommendations
  • Draft concise agreements that minimize risks
  • Keep abreast of legislative changes and proactively makes recommendations for policy changes accordingly to protect the business
  • Effectively negotiate with external parties where required on legal based business matters
  • Attract, develop, direct, motivate, and drive high performance across direct reports.

What you’ll need:

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Member of a State Bar
  • Minimum 8 years of professional legal experience, including law firm and in-house legal counsel
  • Generalist and broad legal knowledge in relevant areas, such as: Commercial Law, in particular (but not exclusively) vehicle sale and buy back contracts, vehicle leasing contracts, real estate lease contracts, airport concession agreements, fair trade practices, consumer protection laws, car rental terms & conditions, payment solutions Employment law Litigation Data & privacy protection law Corporate housekeeping
  • Strong experience in employment law and/or litigation a plus
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading or supervising junior attorneys
  • Experience managing external legal counsel (selection process, budget control, etc.)
  • Ability to develop legal strategy and set objectives in line with the business direction and needs
  • Financial acumen to understand the cost implications on the business
  • High degree of professional ethics, integrity and gravitas
  • Excellent judgement and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, and communication skills in the English language
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.
