Treasury Director, North America

As Treasury Director you will report to the VP Finance and lead a team focused on cash management strategy and operations in North America, while working closely with counterparts in Germany. The person selected for this role will be expected to provide significant Treasury expertise, drive innovation and enhancement of Treasury processes and infrastructure, and will serve as a key business partner for headquarter functions and senior leadership.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Oversee North America liquidity, cash management, and banking strategy
  • Drive debt restructuring program and support long-term capital markets activities
  • Steward of the company’s cash through oversight and active management of the team providing funding to various entities
  • Build and maintain financial institution relationships; negotiate bank and service fees
  • Elevate functional capabilities to pace with market shifts in products and technology, banking regulations, and company strategy
  • Ensure adequate cash forecasting and liquidity for working capital needs
  • Lead current and future Treasury/cash management operations, i.e. Monitor daily cash position and provide reporting to senior management; Manage cash concentration, wires, account funding, etc.; Oversee preparation of daily bank reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items; Support inter-company cash transactions, including inter-company lending, dividends, and capital injections; Forecast and track interest expense and income
  • Leverage market best practices, implement new bank technologies, products and services to improve cash cycle, reduce transaction cost and simplify company operations, e.g. Implement a corporate credit card program; Automate check processing; Improve credit card processing; Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures. Develop and refine Treasury policies and procedures
  • Educate stakeholders on all relevant Treasury policies and procedures
  • Provide advisory to cross-functional business partners on various cash management related projects, e.g. Support the management of the company’s US defined benefit and defined contribution plan investments; Support activities of the plans’ actuaries, investment managers, investment advisors, and custodians to ensure optimal management of plan assets. Participate in matters relating to pension plan accounting, funding, actuarial valuations, governance, etc.; Support leasing analysis and pricing; Support the company’s car retail strategy with innovative Treasury processes

Your Qualities

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or other business-related field; MBA degree preferred. Advanced level certifications such as ACCA, ACT, CIMA, CFA, CPA, or CTP are desirable
  • Over 8 years of experience working in Corporate Treasury and/or Finance, with at least 2 years of people management experience
  • Significant experience directing the resolution of complex business issues
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous and quickly changing business environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create and deliver presentations to senior leadership
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills with a keen ability to communicate complex concepts to wide and diverse audiences
  • Highly skilled in developing high profile, influential and collaborative relationships across teams, functions, and geographies
  • Knowledge of cash forecasting, cash management, liquidity strategy and banking services
  • Knowledge of banking and treasury systems
  • Banking relationship experience, ideally has set up a debt structure for a company
  • Prior experience with debt capital markets and documentation a plus
  • Prior experience with asset backed security programs a plus
  • Ability to work hands-on in a team environment including working at a detailed level as needed
  • Must be able to work 40 hours per week
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
