Director, Car Control

The Director, Car Control is responsible for overseeing the Title & Registrations and Logistics department for Sixt Rent a Car’s fleet of rental vehicles in the United States. These departments are tasked with ensuring prompt handling of all titles and registrations and the arrangement of any transport for rental vehicles – whether prior to the first rental, during the active life or when the vehicle is ready to be sold at an auction or to a dealer.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • • Oversee teams in charge of tag & title and vehicle logistics, ensuring prompt and cost-efficient processing
  • • Oversee $10M+ in logistics and registration expenses and manage cost in line with budget.
  • • Drive process improvement, digitalization and automation initiatives to improve processing times, cost and compliance.
  • • Create reports and presentations to keep controlling department, executive management, and other stakeholders up to date on department performance.
  • • Assess, select, and handle new/current external suppliers (DMVs, tag agencies, dealerships, transport companies, etc.)
  • • Research and obtain and manage registration-specific requirements and licenses for all states in or near future operation.
  • • Collaborate with Sixt’s legal and procurement teams to manage vendor agreements.
  • • Ensure Federal and State compliance standards are continuously met.
  • • Provide training, mentoring, performance planning, and feedback for 2-3 direct reports with an overall team size of 15.

Your Qualities

  • • Bachelor's degree required
  • • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
  • • 3-5 years or more of experience managing people
  • • 3 years or more of experience handling tags and titles at a dealer, rental company, fleet management company, tag agency, or similar experience required.
  • • Demonstrated experience documenting and analyzing workflows, and initiating process improvements.
  • • Ability to work with others in a team environment and to actively promote collaboration & teamwork and resolve conflicts.
  • • Strong organizational and computer skills
  • • Energetic and success oriented.
  • • Must be at least 18 years old
  • • Must be able to work 40 hours per week.
  • • Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.
