Payroll Coordinator

Sixt is seeking a Payroll Coordinator to join the Human Resources team in (location). The Payroll Coordinator will manage and administer all day-to-day payroll and timekeeping processing for the company. This position will be responsible to pay employees timely and accurately by managing and executing the entire payroll cycle. This role will communicate and provide guidance on policy and process decisions that integrate with Human Resources, Benefits, Accounting, Finance, Tax, and Field Operations. This person will have multi-state payroll knowledge, being well versed in the pay rules in California. The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of honesty and integrity.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Manage the day to day payroll operations and processing, including identifying and implementing strategic initiatives, projects, and process improvements
  • Maintain payroll information by performing the collection, calculation, and entering of data
  • Process all monthly, quarterly, and annual bonuses and commissions
  • Review and ensure accuracy of gross pay to net pay, including earnings, deductions, garnishments, and taxes for Management exempt and non-exempt employees
  • Conduct ongoing audits in Kronos to ensure the system setup is aligned with federal, state, and local legal requirements
  • Manage the transaction processing of all employee tax related withholdings and garnishments in accordance with Federal, State and Local laws and regulations
  • Process benefits deductions, contributions, and funding for our health and welfare plans and 401k
  • Provide customer service to employees regarding payroll-related information
  • Create and maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions

Your Qualities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting/Finance, or a related field. This can be substituted with a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
  • A minimum of 5 years previous payroll experience with multi-state (including CA) payroll and labor laws
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in HR and /or Benefits preferred
  • UKG (Ultimate Software) knowledge is preferred
  • Strong system/spreadsheet proficiency (Microsoft Excel required)
  • Kronos Workforce Ready knowledge a plus
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to handle adverse situations and/or tight time deadlines while maintaining accuracy and consistency
  • Willing to work additional time when necessary in order to meet payroll deadlines
