Employee Relations (ER) Specialist

As SIXT continues to grow organically and non-organically, we are now looking for an ER Specialist to work closely with our HR Project Manager, HR Business Partners and stakeholders. The successful candidate will manage employee relations issues including disciplinary and grievances, investigations, consultations, TUPE, redundancy processes, relocations and restructuring exercises due to organisational change. You will also provide advice and support on employee issues such as flexible working, absence and performance management. The role will be working not just with Sixt rent a car colleagues, but also two newly acquired organisations, which currently run independently but are being supported by our HR team. That will make the role more exciting as it will require exploration of policies, practices and capabilities across 3 separate business and its cultures. Due to the nature of the role and our People & Culture team structure, there will be scope for non-strict ER projects, adding variety and role enhancement for the right candidate. Location: The role is nationwide with an element of travel to different branches across the country. Hybrid working with 2 days working from home and 3 days either in HQ Langley or at another company location

  • Manage Employee Relations
  • Subject matter expertise in the knowledge and application of employment law, HR policy and process
  • Handle disciplinary, grievance, appeal and redundancy processes end to end
  • Provide training and education sessions to employees and managers
  • Log ER and use the associated data to gather insights, identify trends and develop proactive strategies
  • Review, understand and map out existing HR practices, policies and procedures across the three companies
  • Build strong relationship with all key stakeholders across the three companies
  • Conduct HR Audit of all documentation and activities in respect of HMRC, ACAS and other legal and statutory compliance
  • Support and on lead on People & Culture Projects
  • Other ad-hoc HR generalist duties

  • Solid Employee Relations case management and advisory experience and/or Employment Legal experience (3+ years)
  • Ability to build relationships, interface, and partner with HR and non-HR stakeholders to achieve results.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information and escalate issues when appropriate
  • Demonstrated policy and procedure development and enforcement to ensure compliance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience facilitating training
  • Excellent judgement – supporting advice that uses a combination of experience and sound technical expertise
  • Experience in reviewing and writing policies
  • Excellent verbal and written communications – the ability to break down complex information and communicate simply across a range of stakeholders
  • CIPD Level 5+ or alternative employment law qualification
