Area Director- Hawaii

The Area Director will be responsible to take on the currently created momentum to further grow the SIXT Operations in the region and capture market share by disrupting old market traditions and introduce groundbreaking new concepts. Growth is expected to be realized both at current locations as well as through opening new locations. The Area Director is expected to constantly be on the lookout for further growth opportunities either improving current locations or finding new locations and winning concessions. Acquisition of (small) rental firms with strategic locations/concession would be considered. This consists of regular networking with key stakeholders, staying up-to-date on any changes and monitoring all relevant metrics. A profound market and competitor dive will be the base for this huge growth opportunity.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of the car rental operations, striving for and delivering aggressive growth while further improving profitability and building a top-notch delivery team in the field.
  • Collaborates smoothly with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operations projects and systems.
  • Works closely together with other divisions and departments, such as Yield Management, Fleet, Airport Relations, Construction, Sales Performance, Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, Planning, etc., to carry out the organization’s goals and objectives
  • People Management, drive the cultural change with the region towards a customer intimacy-oriented organization delivering a premium customer journey. Win the right talent, motivate, inspire, retain and develop.
  • Support the initiative for the station overhaul from a brand perspective, making sure all initiatives are in line with the brand positioning and contribute to stand out from the competition as a premium, innovative, disruptive, best pricevalue player
  • Operational excellence, identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials constantly keeping the premium customer journey in mind as well as the positioning of the brand
  • Ensures that regional decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, fleet efficiency, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are in line with the organizations business plan and vision
  • Business development, identifying and winning new locations and concessions by building up excellent relationships with airport authorities and strategically located municipalities. As well as identifying possible acquisition targets. Handle real estate transactions including negotiations of new and existing lease contracts.
  • Establishes and performs the region’s budget, reviews and approves cost-control reports, cost estimates, and staffing requirements for branches, areas and projects
  • Presents periodic performance reports and metrics to Chief Operations Officer and Chief Financial Officer.
  • Champion and hold leaders accountable to increasing CES (customer excitement scores) and IRPD (incremental revenue per day).
  • The Area Director will enable accountability of performance management across all levels on the team.
  • Overall, lead and develop General Managers, Area Directors and Area Managers.
  • Ensure all vendors are delivering premium services

Your Qualities

  • A progressive career in commercial operations management with proven success of building an excellent customer journey, ideally in a fast-growing consumer, retail or hospitality environment.
  • Must have managed a P&L and a proven track record of delivering business results in a highly performance driven company, exceeding performance expectations. Comfortable with KPI based decision making and a highly commission driven organization.
  • Must have managed and impacted large groups or people spread out over different branches/locations. Passionate about people management
  • Has experience with change management and driving for operational excellence.
  • Experienced in building and leading teams by motivating, inspiring, and developing the people.
  • Outstanding leadership and communications skills, excellent interpersonal skills, strong analytical skills, impeccable business ethics.
  • Has worked in a scale-up or in a fast-growing business environment and is comfortable with some ambiguity in the organization.
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written. Additional languages desirable.
  • Undergraduate degree in business or related. MBA preferred
  • Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
